이슬람주의는 이슬람교에 대한 특정 해석에 근거한 정치 신념으로, 다양한 이슬람주의 운동들이 중동 정치를 지배해 왔습니다. 그런데 많은 사람들이 이슬람주의를 광신적 보수 반동으로 여기고 일부 좌파들도 이를 받아들입니다.
이슬람주의는 보수 반동일까요? 아니면 반제국주의 진보 세력일까요? 그 이데올로기와 실천을 살펴보고, 이슬람주의에 어떤 태도를 취해야 할지 토론해 보려 합니다.

Due to the war between Israel and Palestine, Hamas became the focus for attention. The established media portrays the Islamist organisation as brutal terrorist organisation or a bunch of sexual criminals.
Islamism, or political Islam, is political commitment based on specific interpretation of Islam, and various Islamist movements have dominated the politics in the Middle East. However, many people see Islamism as a fanatical, conservative, reactionary force and many on the left also accept such view.
Is Islamism just a conservative reactionary force? Or is it just a progressive anti-imperialist force? The meeting will discuss its ideology and the practice, and debate what should be our attitude toward Islamism.
