주한 이스라엘 대사관은 추방돼야 한다

이스라엘이 팔레스타인에서 인종 학살을 지속하며 국제적 공분이 커지고 있다. 이스라엘군이 가자 지구 병원들을 폭격해 응급실 환자와 신생아들이 죽어가고 있다. 투하되면 6중 칼날이 날아가 신체를 절단하는 인명살상용 미사일 ‘헬파이어’가 병원 공격에 사용됐다.

이스라엘군은 병원, 학교, 난민촌을 가리지 않고 폭격하며 팔레스타인인을 인종 청소하고 있다.

인종 학살 국가 이스라엘 Israel, Genocidal State

이스라엘 정부는 자신들의 전쟁 범죄를 정당화하려고 하마스에 맞서 자위권을 행사 중이라고 말한다. 많은 언론도 이번 전쟁이 하마스의 공격에서 비롯했다고 보도한다. 그러나 이는 거짓 프레임이다. 문제의 진정한 원인은 1948년부터 여태껏 75년간 이어져 온 이스라엘의 점령과 팔레스타인 억압에 있기 때문이다.

이스라엘은 아랍인과 유대인이 평화롭게 공존하던 팔레스타인 땅에서 아랍인들을 내쫓아 유대인만의 배타적 국가를 만들겠다(시온주의 프로젝트)며 건국됐다. 태생이 인종 청소 국가다.

이스라엘은 서구 제국주의의 지원을 받아 1948년 팔레스타인인들을 쫓아내거나 학살하며 건국됐고, 중동에서 미국 등 서구 강대국들의 이해관계를 지키는 경비견 노릇을 하고 있다. 그리고 이스라엘은 미국의 막대한 지원으로 군사 강국이 돼 그 힘으로 팔레스타인인들을 억압하고 있다.

따라서 이스라엘 국가가 벌이는 잔혹 행위는 정당방위나 자위권으로 정당화될 수 없다. 억압할 권리와 자유는 인정돼선 안 된다.

이 땅에서도 나가라! Out of South Korea!

국제적 팔레스타인 연대 운동은 이스라엘을 세계적으로 압박하고 고립시키고 있다.

그런데 한국 윤석열 정부는 유엔 총회에서 가자 전쟁 휴전 촉구 결의안에 기권했다. ‘하마스 비난’이 빠져 있다는 이유에서다. 사실상 이스라엘을 감싼 것이다.

한국의 대외 무역에서 이스라엘과의 교역이 차지하는 비중은 아직 크진 않지만, 최근 꾸준히 증대하고 있다. 특히 첨단기술과 군사 분야에서 협력이 진전되고 있다.

그런데 이스라엘의 첨단산업은 이스라엘 국가가 군사력 강화를 위해 적극 육성한 부문이다. 미국이 이를 위한 기술과 자금을 지원했다. 이스라엘이 중동에서 군사적 우위를 유지하고 팔레스타인 저항을 억누르려면 첨단산업의 뒷받침이 필요하기 때문이다. 따라서 한국 기업들이 이스라엘의 군수산업, 첨단기술 분야 기업과 협력하는 것은 팔레스타인인을 학살하는 피 묻은 손을 잡은 것이나 다름없다.

바로 주한 이스라엘 대사관이 이스라엘을 대변해 한국에서 이런 협력을 수행하고 있다. 무엇보다도 현재 주한 이스라엘 대사관은 자국의 가자 침공과 인종 학살을 옹호하는 프로파간다를 적극 퍼뜨리고 있다. 이런 곳이 이 땅에서 활동하게 가만둬선 안 된다.

주한 이스라엘 대사 아키바 토르는 한국 언론들 앞에서 “국제법상 병원을 표적으로 하는 것은 불법이 아니다”라며 학살을 옹호하는 망언을 하기도 했다.

게다가 주한 이스라엘 대사관은 팔레스타인 연대 운동을 공격하고 있다. 대사관은 10월 11일 대사관 인근에서 열린 팔레스타인 연대 집회를 ‘유대인 배척 집회’라고 비난하고, “요르단강에서 지중해까지 팔레스타인은 해방되리라(From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free)” 가 “심각한 증오 표현”, “인종 학살” 구호라며 현수막을 내건 진보정당들에 철거를 요구하기도 했다. 그러나 이는 연대 운동을 흠집 내려는 터무니없는 곡해다.

위 구호는 전통적인 팔레스타인 연대 운동의 구호다. 게다가 이스라엘 규탄이 유대인 배척이라는 것은 거짓 비방이다. 강탈에 기초해 인종 학살을 자행하는 국가에 반대하는 것이 ‘유대인 배척’일 수 없다. 수많은 유대인들은 이스라엘이 유대인의 이름으로 학살을 정당화하는 것을 반대한다.

이처럼 이스라엘은 강탈과 침략에 기초해 있고, 인종 분리와 학살로 유지되는 국가다. 그리고 이를 포장하려고 인종차별과 거짓 비방을 벌인다. 이런 국가의 존립 정당성에 도전해야 한다. 이런 국가와 한국 정부의 협력 연결고리를 끊어내야 한다. 따라서 주한 이스라엘 대사관은 추방돼야 한다!

The Israeli government tries to justify its war crimes by saying that it is acting in self-defense against Hamas. Many media outlets also report that the war stems from Hamas attacks, but this is a false frame. The real cause of the problem lies in the 75 years of Israeli occupation and oppression of Palestinians since 1948.

Israel was founded on the promise of creating an exclusive Jewish state by evicting Arabs from Palestinian land where Arabs and Jews lived in peaceful coexistence (the Zionist project). It is an ethnic cleansing state from birth.

Israel was founded in 1948 with the support of Western imperialism to expel or massacre Palestinians, and has been a watchdog for the interests of Western powers such as the United States in the Middle East. And Israel has become a military power with massive U.S. support, using that power to oppress Palestinians.

Therefore, the atrocities committed by the Israeli state cannot be justified as self-defense or self-protection. The right and freedom to oppress must not be recognized.

Get Out of South Korea!

The international Palestinian solidarity movement is putting global pressure on Israel and isolating it.

However, the South Korean government of Yoon Seok-yul abstained from voting on a resolution calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza war at the UN General Assembly because it did not include a “condemnation of Hamas”. In effect, it coddled Israel.

South Korea’s trade with Israel is still a small part of its foreign trade, but it has been growing steadily in recent years. Cooperation is progressing, especially in the high-tech and military sectors.

However, Israel’s high-tech industry is a sector that the Israeli state has actively fostered to strengthen its military capabilities. United States has provided the technology and funding for this. Israel needs the support of its high-tech industry to maintain its military dominance in the Middle East and suppress Palestinian resistance. Therefore, when South Korean companies cooperate with Israeli military and high-tech companies, they are joining bloody hands in slaughtering Palestinians.

This is exactly what the Israeli Embassy in Korea is doing on behalf of Israel. Worst of all, the embassy is now actively spreading propaganda in favor of Israel’s invasion and genocide in Gaza. We must not allow this organization to operate on Korea.

Israel’s ambassador in South Korea, Akiva Tor, has been quoted by South Korean media as saying that “Targeting hospitals is not illegal under international law,” and defending genocide.

In addition, the Israeli embassy in Seoul has been attacking the Palestinian solidarity movement. On October 11, the embassy condemned a Palestinian solidarity rally near the embassy as worse than “antisemitism” and demanded the removal of a progressive political party banner that read “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free,” calling it “gross hate speech” and a “genocidal” slogan. But this is an absurd attempt to smear the solidarity movement.

These are traditional Palestinian solidarity chants. Furthermore, it is a false slander to suggest that condemning Israel means ostracizing Jews. There is nothing “antisemitic” about opposing a state that commits genocide based on theft. Many Jews oppose Israel’s justification of genocide in the name of the Jewish people.

Israel is a state built on theft and aggression, sustained by racial segregation and genocide. And it uses racism and false accusations to cover it up. The legitimacy of this state’s existence must be challenged. The Korean government’s collaboration with this state must be severed, and the Israeli embassy in Korea must be expelled!
