강탈 국가 이스라엘의 팔레스타인 인종 학살

이스라엘의 무차별 공격으로 팔레스타인 가자지구는 그야말로 폐허가 됐다.

세계보건기구(WHO) 사무총장은 “10만 명 이상의 가자지구 주민이 사망했거나 부상 당했거나 실종돼 사망자로 간주된 상태”라고 밝혔다.

유엔 무역개발회의는 지금 당장 가자지구 재건이 시작되더라도 2022년 수준을 회복하려면 70년이 걸릴 것이라고 발표했다.

가자지구 주민 대부분은 이집트와의 국경지대인 가자 남부 라파에 몰려 있다. 그런데 이스라엘의 총리 베냐민 네타냐후는 인질 교환도 거부한 채 라파로 폭격을 확대하고 있다. 라파 난민 공격은 인종 청소 속셈을 만천하에 드러낸 것이다.

무려 140만 명 이상이 울릉도보다 작은 면적에 내몰려 기본적인 의식주도 없이 언제 죽을지 모르는 두려움 속에서 지내고 있다.

‘10월 7일’이 아니라 이스라엘의 식민 점령이 문제의 원인

이스라엘은 끔찍한 인종 학살이 하마스의 10월 7일 공격에 맞선 “정당 방위”라고 말한다. 민간인 주거지, 병원, 교회 폭격이 “정당 방위”인가? 팔레스타인 문제의 진정한 원인은 이스라엘의 70년 넘는 식민 점령과 인종 청소에 있다. 지난해만 봐도 10월 7일 직전, 이스라엘은 팔레스타인 서안지구 제닌 난민촌을 대대적으로 공격해 움직이는 것은 모조리 폭격해 수백 명이 죽거나 다쳤다.

이스라엘은 1948년 팔레스타인 원주민들을 무력으로 내쫓고 학살했고, 남아있는 사람들을 “인간 짐승”으로 취급했다. 팔레스타인인들에게 이스라엘의 공습과 폭력은 일상이다. 삶의 터전, 부모, 형제 자매, 친구, 그리고 자신의 생존마저 위협받는 사람들이 강탈자들에 맞서는 것이야말로 “정당 방위”다.

학살을 지원하는 미국과 서방

이스라엘의 인종 학살과 전쟁 프로파간다를 미국 등 서방 강대국들이 돕고 있다. 미국 정부도 이스라엘의 인종 학살 공범이다.

미국 국가안보회의 대변인 존 커비는 이스라엘의 라파 공격을 “지지하지 않을 것”이라고 말했지만 공허한 말이다. 미국 정부는 이스라엘의 팔레스타인 인종 학살을 내버려 두고 있다.

미국 정부는 전쟁 발발 후 이스라엘에 스마트 폭탄 등 무기를 지원하고 항공모함 전단을 보내는 등 군사적으로 지원해 왔다. 이스라엘이 건국된 이래 역대 미국 정부들은 중동 패권을 위해 이스라엘에 아낌없는 군사적∙재정적 지원을 해 왔다.

게다가 미국 정부는 예멘을 직접 한 달 넘게 폭격하며 이스라엘을 지원하고 자신의 중동 패권을 지키려 한다.

“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free! (요르단강에서 지중해까지, 팔레스타인이여 독립하라!)”

이스라엘과 미국은 추악한 전쟁 범죄를 감추고 정당화하려고 끔찍한 거짓말과 프로파간다를 쏟아낸다.

한국에서는 주한 이스라엘 대사관이 그 일을 한다. 주한 이스라엘 대사관은 학살 국가 이스라엘을 규탄하고 팔레스타인인들과 연대하는 행위를 ‘유대인 혐오’라고 낙인 찍는다.

그러나 이스라엘은 결코 유대인 전체를 대변하지 않는다. 팔레스타인 억압에 반대하는 수많은 유대인들이 “Not in our name! (우리의 이름으로 학살을 정당화하지 말라!)”며 이스라엘 정부에 반대해 팔레스타인 연대 시위에 동참하고 있다.

한편, 한국 정부가 원하는 이스라엘의 첨단 군사 기술은 팔레스타인인들을 대상으로 하는 ‘실험’ 속에서 발전해 왔다. 이스라엘과의 협력은 학살자들의 피 묻은 손을 잡는 것으로 반대해야 한다.

이스라엘의 야만적인 인종 학살과 온갖 프로파간다는 팔레스타인인들의 저항과 용기를 꺾지 못 하고 있다. 전례 없는 규모의 팔레스타인 연대 운동이 세계적으로 계속되고 있다. 한국에서도 매주 토요일 팔레스타인인들과 연대하는 집회와 행진이 20차 넘게 이어지고 있다.

The genocide of Palestinians by the hijack state of Israel

Israel’s indiscriminate attacks have left Gaza of Palestine in ruins.

According to the Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO), “over 100,000 Gazans are either dead, injured or missing and presumed dead”.

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development announced that even if reconstruction began now, it would take 70 years to return to 2022 levels.

Most of Gaza’s residents are concentrated in Rafah, in southern Gaza, near the border with Egypt. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has refused to exchange hostages and has escalated the bombing of Rafah. The attack on the Rafah refugees is a clear sign of ethnic cleansing.

More than 1.4 million people have been crammed into an area smaller than Ulleungdo island in S.Korea, denied basic necessities and living in fear of death.

Israel’s colonial occupation, not ‘7 October’, is the cause of the problem

Israel says the horrific massacre was “self-defence” against Hamas’s 7 October attack. Is bombing civilian homes, hospitals, and churches “self-defence”? The real cause of the Palestinian issue is Israel’s 70+ years of colonial occupation and ethnic cleansing. Last year alone, just before 7 October, Israel launched a major attack on the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank, bombing everything that moved, killing and injuring hundreds of people.

Israel forcibly evicted and massacred the indigenous Palestinian population in 1948, treating those who remained as “human animals”. For Palestinians, Israeli airstrikes and violence are a part of everyday routine. For those whose homes, parents, siblings, friends, and even their own survival are threatened, it is “self-defence” against the oppressor.

The US and the West support genocide

Israel’s genocide and war propaganda is supported by Western powers, including the United States. The US government is complicit in Israel’s genocide.

John Kirby, the spokesperson for the US National Security Council, said that the US “would not support” Israel’s attack on Rafah, but his words ring hollow. The US government turns a blind eye to Israel’s genocide of Palestinians.

The US government has supported Israel militarily since the outbreak of the war, providing weapons such as smart bombs and sending aircraft carrier flyovers. Since Israel’s founding, successive US governments have provided generous military and financial support to Israel in its quest for Middle East hegemony.

Moreover, the US government has been directly bombing Yemen for over a month to support Israel and secure its own hegemony in the region.

“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free!”

Israel and the US spew horrific lies and propaganda to cover up and justify their ugly war crimes.

In S.Korea, the Israeli Embassy in Korea does just that. The embassy labels any condemnation of the genocidal state of Israel or solidarity with the Palestinians as “antisemitic”.

But Israel never speaks for the Jewish people as a whole. Many Jews who oppose the oppression of Palestinians are joining the Palestinian solidarity protests against the Israeli government, saying “Not in our name!” and opposing the Israeli government.

Meanwhile, Israel’s advanced military technology, which the S.Korean government wants, has been developed in “experiments” on Palestinians. Cooperation with Israel should be opposed as joining the bloody hands of the murderers.

Israel’s barbaric genocide and all its propaganda has not dampened the resistance and courage of the Palestinian people. The Palestinian solidarity movement continues on an unprecedented scale around the world. In Korea, there have been more than 20 rallies and marches in solidarity with the Palestinians every Saturday.

More university students and young people should join in and show solidarity with the Palestinians!
